Hi! I've been on Risperdal for years. It's my magic pill. It keeps me stable and works on my auditory hallucinations. But with it my prolactin levels are high. My pnurse was so concerned she tried Abilify. But Abilify agitates me. We tried Invega, but then there were insurance issues. So now I'm back on Risperdal. I just have to know that I'm at risk for osteoporosis. Anyone else dealing with this? Did you go to your doctor about early bone density tests? I'm in my early 50's. I'm thinking I should get that checked out.

hi. i think they have...bromoctropine, maybe (?)...to treat the elevated prolactin, while still staying on the tranquilizer. i seem to recall reading case studies in which abilify was added to risperidone. people were kept on both tranquilizers, and the prolactin levels came down. i don't know if that's the best idea for you, but it does seem to be one potential option.
Thanks for this!

Thanks! I plan to see my GP next and see what she recommends. I'll ask her about the Bromocriptine and the bone density test.

I have prolactin issues and my endocrinologist out me on cabergoline because I am not currently trying to get pregnant (he said when I get into family planning he will have to switch it to bromocriptine). I take it once a week and it's helped..but it can make one a bit nauseous and drowsy so try to take it when you can have a day to sleep it off. It has dropped my prolactin from borderline high to low normal and helped with the symptoms.
Thanks for this!
