Hi there
5 months ago, i started taking zoloft. However i've started to feel like really horny and the orgasm just felt so much better; also my genitals felt more sensitive and an overall enhanced sexual feeling (pardon my french). Problem is after i stopped it the feeling never went away and now im concerned. My explanation was that zoloft triggered some sort of a small mania because of my underlying undiagnosed mood disorder. currently im taking lithium carbonate 400mg but it had little to no effect on my problem (hypersexuality). what do you guys think? and thanks in advance im a male btw |

If it were a mood disorder, the lithium could help. (unless not at the dosage that is effective for you in particular, or it does not help you in general)
Are there any other mood disorder symptoms? It totally makes sense if there are, as it would be odd that hypersexuality stands as the sole symptom. (unless it is something else) SSRIs (such as Zoloft) are able to trigger (hypo)mania in those with a mood disorder, particularly bipolar mood disorder. So my guess would be that the antidepressant you were on triggered this. Your doctor should take this seriously as what you are describing can be a side effect. They will likely assess the other symptoms you have and then make a diagnosis if they see it as a mood disorder. If the other mania symptoms go away, but the hypersexuality remains, it may be something else.

Zoloft killed my sex drive. I’ve been off it for over two years and it hasn’t come back.
People just look normal to me. I think I might be assexual. I don’t desire relationships in general though. But yeah I noticed it right around the time I got on Zoloft. |
