I'm on 8 different psych meds and 1 non-psych med, is that too much? I have health anxiety and ever since the number of my meds have gone up my anxiety has been acting up. Like I'm worried if that's way too much to process by my kidneys. I'm probably overthinking it. Any thoughts?

I don't think there is such a thing as too many meds if it makes you feel better. If its causing you issues, of course review with your doc. I was on 5 psych meds until I got my marijuana prescription and now I'm at 3. Not saying thats a solution or option for everyone, but its my story.

There are times when certain psych meds can cause anxiety. Might not be a bad idea to check back in with the doctor who is writing out the scripts and ask them if it is too many.

I'm working on cutting two of my meds ie Topomax and ambien, i figure i can do without them, so why take them at all. The rest are all necessary evils for now, lol. Thanks for sharing your insight.

What is too many meds for one person may be too little for another person.

I can't take any more than 1 med a day. If I do, I feel like I'm about to die. Whereas I know people who take up to 12 meds a day, and seem to function ok.

I do worry about the amount of medications some individuals are taking and the damage it's causing their liver and kidneys.

I worry as well. But we can't confuse worry with actual hard facts. We live in a age of drug depended society, people are living on a whole mess of meds that they take to thrive each day. One day turns to a year which turns to a lifetime. And meds only multiply with age. This is the times we live in now. We do what we must what is best to survive. And then we hope for the best.

That's a legitimate question. You only get one set of kidneys or liver and there are many other side effects of these medications esp over the long term whereas the benefits may be short term and short lived. Once you get on it can be hard to get off, but not impossible. You seem to already know the answer.
