I've been undiagnosed for years everyone.
Other people have usually treated me with contempt or look at me in that funny way which is "what is wrong with you" I usually was never treated with compassion. I was sick a long time. 2 years ago at the Veterans Administration I had to fight tooth & nail to see a psychiatrist calling the veterans crisis line multiple times begging & pleading. I was finally diagnosed & prescribed Depakote. Now prior to this I was prescribed 4-5 different med's with awful side effects too. Wellbutrin was the worst! One doctor tried to prescribe me medicine for heart condition, see some doctors just don't care about you so they'll prescribe you anything. Luckily I didn't take that medicine. I've posted on here that the mental health system is in a shambles. And it is. After years of torment finally there is a med to help me stay sane. You just don't know how close I've come to ending up incarcerated over my mental illness. The jails are full of women just like me., mental hospitals are gone. Inpatient hospitals only want to see you if you are suicidal which is stupid. Cause what happens if your mind is a mess? I don't like living in the U.S. It should be called the U.MESS! ![]()

Sorry you had to go through such a mess, getting good treatment for mental illness is hard. I am convinced that all the good psychiatrists in the US don’t even take insurance because they get enough business at full price. I am actually looking into moving to a county with socialized medicine once I finish my masters degree because the crazy amount of my income that goes to medical expenses. Adequate healthcare here is pretty much unattainable for normal people. Part of me understands why they got rid of all the asylums from decades ago but they never replaced them with something better. A week or two inpatient just does not do much for anyone, and I have my share of horror stories from my times in.
It is funny how every medication effects people so differently. Wellbutrin has had very positive effects for me while depakote sent me to the ER for three days with a severe allergic reaction, Steven Johnson’s syndrome if you are familiar with that. |
