Hello,

I was just prescribed Benztropine today to help with the akathisia that I get when taking Seroquel and/or Risperdal. I am supposed to take it at night. I was just wondering what to expect, if anyone here has taken it before.

Thank you

I just started that in Thursday, they didn’t tell me when to take it though so I have been taking it in the morning. Since I just started I am not too concerned I have not seen any results yet but I also have not had any side effects from it. I think I am on the lowest dose possible, 0.5 mg, so if in a few weeks I am still not seeing any effects I am going to ask about upping the amount because I my face is twitching pretty bad.
Thanks for this!

I am taking 1 mg for the akathisia caused by Seroquel and/or Risperdal. I have not noticed anything major yet, but I also might only be on it for a week since I meet with my Psychiatrist on Thursday.

On Abilify it took 3mg before it worked effectively. At that dose my eyesight was blurry and I was light sensitive. I took it with the Abilify as I thought of them as a pair in the morning (in case Abilify really was activatin). It never made me sleepy. It is an anti-cholergenic which means you may be susceptible to heat. When I dropped Cogentin (and Abilify) all the side effects went away. On Latuda I take 80mg propranolol for my akathisia and it works well with few side effects.
Thanks for this!
