So here's the deal.

I am away in a small town and will be here until the 2nd or 3rd of January. This particular town has 2 doctors (neither of which are psychiatrists) and a pharmacy with a limited variety of medications.

Point is that I am on Seroquel and I cannot take it anymore. Besides being unhappy in general, I take my Seroquel and feel so drugged that I think that is the only reason why it works for my anxiety and (hypo)mania; it sedates me to the point of not feeling anything at all.

It is difficult to explain without going too in depth. I get agitated (possibly from anxiety) and also feeling down at times. Maybe it is because I am not as distracted out here and that I have not seen my doctor in about 2 weeks and believe that I have found a breakthrough in terms of what we can do to manage both mood and anxiety. (because this antipsychotic for anxiety crap is not working) Perhaps I am just anxious to get back and get this sorted out. I am meant to be on vacation but half the time I am just thinking about getting home, getting an appointment and getting off of this damn Seroquwl and onto something helpful.

So do I see one of the doctors and see if he can get me something... anything to get me through until the new year?
Even if they change my medication... I do not particularly mind. I am sure that my actual doctor won't mind.

What else can I do?

Is it possible that your seroquel dose is too high?
Thanks for this!

Yes is it to high?
You could always call the offices of the docs and ask if the have any understanding of seroquel.

I do pretty good on seroquel but the weight gain is astronomical. I don't like Geodon. It saps me of all personality.

There are many options besides seroquel.

I had to slowly taper off seroquel and that took me about half a year to get from 600 mg to 0. Some people can apparently stop it on a dime but I was not one of those people. What is your dose?

In response to everyone:
Firstly, thank you for taking the time to read my post.

I am on 200 mg of Seroquel. I was once on a lower dosage, but had some anxiety issues that led to it being increased.
So yes, the dosage is perhaps too high. A lower dosage may mean more anxiety though.
I don’t know what to do. My doctor’s practice likely only opens around the 15th of January. So even when I get back, I’ll have to wait around...

Honestly, what else can I do?
I can go see one of the doctors that aren’t away and hope that they can do something... anything. I am on my last 7 days of Seroquel before I need a refill and wish I could stop taking it and taper myself down with the extra that I have.

If you have taken two different doses of seroquel then a doctor might be happy to prescribe something in between until you get to your regular practitioner.

I had the same issue with Seroquel making me just feel sedated and bleh. I went down to 50mg and then just stopped taking it cold turkey. Not advised, but I did fine with it. If you can’t get ahold of your doctor, you could always try going to an ER (as ridiculous as that my sound) and they can help adjust your meds. Definitely not the desirable option, but if you’re desperate, that’s an option. I learned from experience that primary care docs and urgent car docs refuse to adjust psych meds.

Yeah, seroquil doesn't help with anxiety. Is there anyway you could get a second opinion? Just tell your psychiatrist that you aren't going to take seroquil anymore and you need the psychiatrist to adjust your meds.
