Hello all.

I am starting Zoloft again after being on it 3 years ago. Things seem to be looking up. (or at least like they will go up)

We are tapering down the Seroquel. I am on currently on 50 after going down from 200 -> 150 -> 50 and then I will be off of it at the end of the month.

I am still on lithium and that is the baseline treatment in terms of mood.

I am starting with the tapering up of Zoloft, starting at 25 mg for 1 week, then 50, 75 and finally 100.

Are there any tips you might have regarding being on Zoloft? i can hardly remember my first go at it.

I am just grateful that I can finally be tried out on an SSRI, and that we are working out Seroquel. (which gives me terrible drowsiness) I just really hope that it goes alright. I know that there are other options ito SSRI/SNRI etc. but I am sure that many of you know the struggle of trying one thing and then moving on...another and another.

(Oh, and I am still on 1 mg of Fluanxol, so even though I will be away from Seroquel, the typical AP, I will still be on an AP. At least it is only one, right? )

I got switched to Zoloft in the hospital and was started at 200mg, currently at 250mg. I wrecked havoc on my stomach at first. Took about 3 weeks to settle. It also makes me quite sleepy, but everyone is different. Good luck!

Zoloft by itself made me quite tired. I could barely function on it so I stopped taking it. I wasn’t on it for too long, so I can’t really say. It was the first thing I tried.

I was worried about weight gain on Zoloft. And I was right. In 3 months I gained 30 pounds.

Everything except the geodon and lamictal has caused massive amounts of weight gain in a very short amount of time.

I don’t think it’s really the meds, I think I’m just really sensitive to the side effect.

Zoloft gave me horrific panic attacks and sent me into mania. Not a good medicine for me.

The first time I took Zoloft it helped but eventually made me manic. I am now on it again in combo with lamictal and a few other meds and I’m doing well. No side effects I feel good.

If there's someone you trust who you are always around, or if you have a T, sometimes it's good to have someone make sure that they don't notice any alarming changes. Zoloft is sometimes unpredictable. The first time, it made me hypomanic and eventually manic. I tried it a second time when I was on strong mood stabilizers and thought that would protect me from mania, but the second time was even worse, and I developed paranoia/mixed mania. I guess just be careful, come up with a safety plan, because it's good to be safe rather than sorry. I wish I had someone take me back to the pdoc before that all happened at that level of severity, but I'm okay now. I really do hope it works out well for you. Everyone is so different when it comes to our reactions to things!
