These meds not working so I want to stop

them. I am currently on 150mg effexor and 0.5mg resperidone. I asked my gp to give me 37.5 mg effexor and 0.25 mg resperidone. How many weeks should I take to reduce. Also my next set of meds I am choosing prozac and abilify are these okay?

hi. i think if the goal is to taper off, the recommendation is 10% cut per month. if you're switching over, its a different story.

prozac inhibits the enzymes that clear out abilify, so aim for 1/2 the dose of abilify, unless you need a full on tranquilizer effect.

Hello still_: We here on PC cannot make recommendations with regard to changes in medication or med reduction schedules. These are questions you need to address with your prescribing physician. Our purpose, here on PC, is to provide one another with support & to exchange experiences & information. However... I see this is your first post here on PC. So... welcome to PsychCentral! I hope you find the time you spend here to be of benefit.

Here are links to 2 articles from PsychCentral's archives that may be of some interest:

https://psychcentral.com/lib/discont...to-know/?all=1

I don't know, of course, if you're here simply seeking advice with regard to this particular concern or if you plan to hang in here with us. However, should you be planning to continue on (we hope you do)... may I suggest you introduce yourself over on PC's New Member Introductions forum? Here's a link:

There's a lot of support that can be available here on PC. The more you post, & reply to other members' posts, the more a part of the community you will become. Plus there are the chat rooms where you'll be able to interact with other PC members in real time (once your first 5 posts have been reviewed & approved.) So please keep posting!

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
