I take it and had some drowsiness at the start but it went away within a couple weeks.

better than any other tranquilizer/antipsychotic ive ever tried. if you need a tranquilizer, id say consider abilify. if you dont really need a tranquilizer/antipsychotic....id recommend trying a different class of medication for whatever ails you.

I find abilify activating I take it in the morning. I have been on dosages ranging from 10mg up to 30mg. I am on 20mg now and I feel abilify is the most important med in my cocktail. It stops most intrusive thoughts and keeps me calm through out the day. Give it a shot very few side effects.

Akathisia was the only thing I had against it, but of course, that's a huge thing. Cogentin took care of that but at a dose that caused eye problems. I would try it again, with propranolol for the akathisia (as w/the Latuda I take). It made things much brighter, but less mellow, than the Seroquel I was on before. On the other hand I also don't have any reason to go back to it. I don't see any reason that you shouldn't at least give it a shot.

I'm taking 12-15 mg Abilify daily but now have voices. They were continual but now are sporadic but still there. I can say that because I take my medication I was able to recognize I was delusional and psychotic. If I were not on my medication, I would be hospitalized for sure. No medicine is 100 percent effective and all have side effects. I hope Abilify works for you. The side effects have been akathisia, dizziness, and weight gain. But, these are not as bad as other side effects of other medications. I would say that Zyprexa helped with the voices the most but I gained over 60 pounds on it. So, I stopped it before I became a raging diabetic. I am gaining weight again from Abilify now because I am stressed from the voices. But, so far, I've only gained about 20 pounds. Good luck and best wishes!!

I worked my way up to 10mg of Abilify but I had excessive sleepiness during the day. Another common issue is akathisia/restlessness. I was always squirming when sitting down on it.

As always though every person reacts differently so it may be different for you.
