I have been on Klonopin for awhile now. I think it is not working as well. What should I try next?

Can you ask your doc for some non-benzo choices. I just spent the last 3 months withdrawing from benzo. I only used mostly 1 mg at night and occasionally a .5 during the day. The problem is you have to keep I increasing the dose which I was no longer willing to do. It was a long process even at that small dose. Last year I got off daily opiates....not as bad as the benzos. There are none in the house anymore. Presently, I am working my way off ambiien.Just started two weeks ago. This has been the toughest. I am currently on plan C but I think this will work. There is Buspar, Hydroxyzine, Gabapentin,Inderal and of course the web host of antidepressants that also decrease anxiety.

I have taken 4mg some days and 0mg on others without any problems. I currently take Inderal for hand tremors and Gabapentin to supplement the Klonopin. I can’t take antidepressants they make me worse and I risk getting Serotonin Syndrome again.

Well you said the Klonopin was not working well. Over time you can still develop a tolerance even if you do not take it everyday unless is just a two doses a week thing. Sorry you are having such a rough time. I have pts and doc suggested I take a dose of prazosin during the day if needed to calm things down. He does that with vets with some success

May I ask why the Klonopin is prescribed for you?

I have been on K-pin for over twenty years and have some pretty good insight into it. Maybe I can offer some help if I know why you're taking it.

I use it for anxiety and for times when I am paralyzed at work and couldn’t get up and do work.
