I've been taking Seroquel 400 mg a day for about a year and a half now. I was really dreading seeing my psychiatrist yesterday, because I've been taking more than was prescribed in the past few weeks, and so I ran out early. I didn't want to tell him, but I knew I'd need his ok for the pharmacy to refill early.
Instead of lecturing me, he had me fill out a depression screening test and it showed me as severely depressed, so he said he thought I was self medicating and if a higher dose helped, he'd rather just prescribe a higher dose. So he's increased my dose to 600 mg / day. I just hope it doesn't make me feel too sedated, or cause me to gain weight, which it hasn't at the 400 mg level. I'm feeling relieved. splitimage |

So the Seroquel is helping you to feel less depressed? That's great if it is! I hope the higher dose is even more helpful for you.

Yeah, I was first put on it to treat anxiety, but I noticed that it also helped my mood. For some reason, I seem to react really well to the A-typical AP's. I'm sure at least part of the mood help comes from not having the massive anxiety I had prior to starting Seroquel, but at the higher doses it seems to really help with my depression too.
