I've been taking Seroquel 400 mg a day for about a year and a half now. I was really dreading seeing my psychiatrist yesterday, because I've been taking more than was prescribed in the past few weeks, and so I ran out early. I didn't want to tell him, but I knew I'd need his ok for the pharmacy to refill early.

Instead of lecturing me, he had me fill out a depression screening test and it showed me as severely depressed, so he said he thought I was self medicating and if a higher dose helped, he'd rather just prescribe a higher dose.

So he's increased my dose to 600 mg / day. I just hope it doesn't make me feel too sedated, or cause me to gain weight, which it hasn't at the 400 mg level.

I'm feeling relieved.

So the Seroquel is helping you to feel less depressed? That's great if it is! I hope the higher dose is even more helpful for you.

Yeah, I was first put on it to treat anxiety, but I noticed that it also helped my mood. For some reason, I seem to react really well to the A-typical AP's. I'm sure at least part of the mood help comes from not having the massive anxiety I had prior to starting Seroquel, but at the higher doses it seems to really help with my depression too.

That's wonderful. I'm so glad the Seroquel is helping you.
