Recently my psychiatrist increased my Seroquel from 400 - 600 mg / day. Fortunately it's worked wonders on my depression and anxiety. The problem, is I'm at the point that the physical side effects are problematic.
My main side effects are, dizziness, trouble concentrating (to the point where I made a major error on my taxes), trouble swallowing for a couple of hours after I take it, and feeling drowsy. I'm trying to decide if the mental up is worth the side effects. Mentally I feel so much better, but the side effects are definitely a challenge. spilitimage |

I am having this same discussion right now. A lot of meds do have negative side effects and I am actively trying to reduce the number of medications I am on and trying to increase my exercise with a quality diet.
It is definitely a balance thing. |

Hi splitimage, Yeah, that's a high dose of Seroquel. It's no wonder you feel drowsy.
The good thing is that it is helping your mental/emotional state. That is great! But, I hear you on the physical issues. The "Seroquel dizziness" feels miserable to me...almost like being drunk, right before I throw up. Not pleasant, at all. Can you explain what you mean by trouble swallowing? I'm thinking along the lines of what Deejay posted. I'm thinking that after a while, the side effects will subside - at least to some extent. In my experience with Seroquel that's what happened. Unfortunately, when the side effects lessened for me, the beneficial effects lessened a little bit, too. It's the usual "trade-off". And yes, it is frustrating. ![]() |
