Started treatment a few weeks ago to help deal with my anxiety, depression, paranoia and hallucinations. My new pdoc now has me on 30mg Celexa, 1mg Ativan and we are starting Rexulti at 0.5 mg soon to increase to 1mg. She decided to introduce it slowly since she just upped my Celexa from 20 to 30mg and I was worried about side affects. So far I've noticed no change in the paranoid thoughts and the hallucinations, but my anxiety is much better managed now which makes the other things more manageable for me.

Now my question, I was instructed to take it at night because it can make you drowsy, but I've been waking up every 2 to 3 hours each night. I wasn't sleeping well before I started on it, but I never woke up that frequently, it used to be that I just had trouble falling asleep. Anyone else with this experience? I'm afraid to take it during the day because I have an extremely active and demanding job and I cannot afford to be drowsy.

I take a small amount (0.25mg) at night. I sleep pretty horribly anyway so I can't comment on whether it has an effect on that. I don't feel like it makes me tired though.

How close are you taking it to bedtime? Maybe try taking it at lunch to see if it is making you drowsy. That way it's not all day if it does make you tired in this experiment.

I am taking it around 8pm and I generally go to bed at 10, I'll try to start taking it around mid-day I'm just worried about forgetting to take it because I have a very busy work schedule.

Hi!
I was put on Rexulti last summer in an attempt to help my depression. I only took it for a few weeks because it increased my OCD really bad and made it very difficult for me to concentrate and focus. It did not make me drowsy at all but I can’t remember if it affected my sleep because I have sleep issues regularly. I would definitely talk to your doctor to get their opinion.

When I am worried that a new medication will make me tired, I take it on a day where I have nothing going on at all so that it won’t interfere with anything important if it does cause drowsiness.

You could even just try and take it a little earlier, like around 5 (or right as you leave work and use that as a trigger to go, "Oh, I need to take my meds."). I have to set an alarm on my phone because I will, and do, forget my midday meds.
