I currently take a 100 mgs. of Seroquel. I know that is not a lot but I am thinking it has affected my weight at least a little. I would like to lose weight and am thinking that if I stop the seroquel it will help. I really don't think I use it for the anti-depressant/anti-psychotic part as it was prescribed for sleep.
My question is do you think it is a low enough does to just stop it? I take 3mgs Lunesta and 1 mg klonopin for sleep too so I hope I don't need it. Does seroquel have a withdrawal issue? Thank you Effexor XR 600mgs Welbutrin XR 450 mgs. Abilify. 15 mgs Synthyroid 150 mcg Lunesta 3 mg. Klonopin 1mg. Seroquel 100 mg. |

Talk to doc first. 100 is pretty low, depends on lots of factors.
How long have you been on it? Is it XR or immediate release? Since you are on Abilify, it may be prescribed more to help with sleep. Talk to doc, but if have been on it awhile, is probably wise to drop to 50, then 25, then zero. Over the course of 3-4 weeks. Always better to be conservative. Once at zero, you might want or need to take 25 a time or two more then back to and stay at zero. Repeat if needed. That will avoid/minimize any w/d symptoms. Which might include anxiety, insomnia, feeling 'flu-ish', headaches maybe. 100 is a low dose, and again, biggest factor is time you've been on it. Seroquel is a great med for some people. It has been a game changer for me. Finding the right dose is hard though, and then our bodies are always in a state of flux. I am working with my doctor to safely reduce dose some now. In finding the right dose, we unintentionally overmedicated me for awhile. Was on as much as 750 total and now down to 500. Sometimes I add 25-50 during daytime if I need. I have gained 30 pounds, all in my belly. My lipid panel is way off base now. I really really want off of it completely, but the odds of staying stable are really low without it, and it's the best one I've been on by far. I still cycle sometimes but overall less severe and my functioning in general is better. |
