I have recently tapered off of Abilify, from 20mg to 10mg and now I'm off it. I had typical withdrawal symptoms like mania, confusion, irritability, etc... for about 2 weeks. But I noticed also when I stopped I got Restless Leg Syndrome. This isn't going away very well, and it's a pretty bad case of it. I haven't slept for a week, not because of insomnia but because my legs are driving me crazy.

Anyone else run into this? How can you deal with RLS? Will it eventually go away?

hi. sorry about this. i think there is "withdrawal-emergent akathisia," now and then, plus "withdrawal-emergent" tardive syndromes. ugh.

gabapentin helps some people w/ RLS. I think there's a once-nightly gabapentin that's sustained release or something, specifically for RLS. Remeron is sometimes used to help akathisia from neuroleptics.

I've heard restless leg is a real challenge. I have a bit of it occasionally. Please talk to your doctor about it to see if anything will help you.

I just experienced it in the hospital. My Doc gave me magnesium for it and it works.

I take klonopin and or mirapex for RLS and a sleep behavior disorder. Both work wonders.
