Anybody else get extremely thirsty while on lithium?

I feel it more pronounced when I miss a dose or two and then start it again. I know that is is a side effect that happens.

How does one go about fixing it?

I've been on lithium for over a year. The best way to handle the thirst is to make sure you drink a lot of water and often. I only notice the thirst now on days when I don't drink enough.

Lithium makes me thirsty too. But I also really don't notice it because I stay pretty hydrated.

I’m not on it anymore, but when I first got on it I think they gave me too high of a dose. At least that’s what they said later. I drank so much water I ended up wetting the bed one night. I was thirsty throughout the 7 years I was on it. When my lithium started going haywire and affecting my kidney function my thirst was unbearable. I was getting yelled at at work because of all my trips to the fountain. I had a 20oz water bottle and I was waking up 5 times a night and filling it up and chugging 20oz in 10 seconds. So I was drinking 100 ounces of water a night and probably another 100 or 150 during the day. And the thing was my doctor told me I was still dehydrated even after all that water. I got off the lithium and went to a kidney doctor. Who diagnosed me with diabetes inspidous. Which means I drink a lot of water and go to the bathroom a lot,

My thirst isn’t that bad now. Although I’m still drinking about 60-70 Oz a day. Some nights are particular bad. The frequent night time trips to the bathroom
Even after already using it 3 times without drinking anything, is irritating.

So in other words. Lithium didn’t work out for me. Plus I had horrible acne and stringy and greasy hair on it. Luckily that went away after going off it.

Crazy-thirsty, yes. But I already drink a lot of water. When I was on lithium I drank even more water.
