I went down on my propalanol. Without my doctors permission. I just kept forgetting the 20 milligrams in the AM. A week later I realized I felt much better without it, and I just stuck to the one at night. I’ve been feeling sick to my stomach these past few days. I thought it was caused by my PMS or the heat. I’m now wondering if it’s a withdrawal side effect?
Yeah I know it’s bad to go off meds by myself. I actually took myself completely off a med 2.5 years ago. I googled how to wean myself off it. It happened to be one of the best decisions I ever made. And I had zero side effects and I felt much better off it then on it. I haven’t taken my Ativan in a couple weeks, so my anxiety is actually less without the morning 20. I don’t feel like mentioning this to my doctor. I hate psychiatrists so I don’t really care that I’m going against what they are saying. I feel like I know what I’m doing. Does anyone have any suggestions or comments? |

I don't think propanlol causes withdrawals. I was on it for a while, but it made my blood pressure too low and I would get dizzy. I think I stopped cold turkey and didn't have problems.

Everyone is different of course. For me, I was on Proponalol for about 2 years when my GP took me off of it. I just stopped taking it. Didn't have any withdrawal effects at all.

I take Propranolol as needed. I was taking max of 30 mg a day for a while and then pdoc cut it back to 20 mg (due to dizziness) and there were no issues. Anxiety itself can cause one to feel sick to one's stomach. I don't know if lack of Ativan would do it, I didn't take that med long enough to know.

Yeah, I take 80mg of it for akathisia. I was taking a different beta blocker before for a PVC. It's a pretty benign drug as far as drugs used in psychiatry go. If you were taking it for high blood pressure then stopping it could affect that, though 20mg would be a pretty low dose for something like that. I think it's unlikely that you're in withdrawal. Without knowing what you're taking it for it's pretty hard to guess what not taking it would do.

My doctor said my heartbeat is high. But I don’t feel any anxiety from going down on the med. but my heart has been racing for awhile now. Sometimes I wake up with chest pains and my heart racing.
Today was kinda bad. I was working in a room that must have been about 90 degrees and no fans. I was wearing heavy Levi’s and heavy work gloves. 15 minutes into my shift I was sweating. I had chest pains and I was so hot. I felt like I was going to have a heart attack. Plus I had to keep climbing on top of something and then over it to get to my equipment. But my anxiety is fine so I don’t know?? |
