I have a wierd combo if ocd/ add / anxiety and depression symptoms. I started Efdexir a couple of weeks ago. These ssris and snris seem to knock me out and make me spacey. Couldnt tolerate wellbutrin. Do any meds evenly increase all of the neurotransmitters? Or help to increase dopamine without being a stimulant? Do I need to go to MAOis??

I was on Effexor twice with very bad results. (I'll spare you the details!) I think this is really something you need to discuss with your prescriber. We here on PC can't make recommendations regarding medications. The only thing I can say is that, over the years, I've tried quite a few different antidepressants. And, to one degree or another, they all made me spacey. So, at least based on my personal experience, I would have to say feeling somewhat spacey just comes with taking antidepressants to one degree or another especially as you get up into the higher dosages. Perhaps other people have had other experiences.

I don't remember ever really feeling spacey on an antidepressant. Effexor has worked very well for me. I haven't had nearly as many sexual side effects as I had on SSRIs and it actually has given me more energy. I've had two problems with it. One, I think it raised my diastolic blood pressure maybe 10 points, and two it is really really bad if I skip it.

My understanding is that MAOIs have more extensive side effects. For sure ask you doctor, but I wonder how long you have been on any one drug. Sometimes changing the dosage or even the time of day you take it can help. I had some serious side effects to a blood pressure medication I started. It actually ended me up in the ER because I thought I was having a heart attack. But the doctor there suggested I start taking it at night instead of the morning and it felt much better. After a month I don't have any side effects that I notice at all.
