So I've been on various SSRIs (most recently Zoloft) and SNRIs before. Most recently, I've tried Lexapro. I'm maybe 3 weeks in on a really low dose (trying half the smallest tablet since I'm supersensitive to meds). I think I'm having some physical side effects. But what's concerning me most is

I've had strong suicidal ideations twice in the span of 3 weeks

I just emailed P-doc about it, and I see T for our regular session tomorrow.

But what I'm wondering is: I know SSRIs have the black box warning (I'm not a teen or young adult). Is it possible to have those side effects on a new SSRI if you haven't really had them before? I mean, I've had negative effects from other SSRIs (like greatly increased anxiety on Prozac) and SNRIs (psychological stuff from both Effexor and Cymbalta). But can I just randomly have this side effect from Lexapro if I haven't had it from other SSRIs? Mostly just trying to figure out if this is the med vs. a particularly difficult bout of depression.

It's hard to say. I take Prozac 60 mg once a day, mostly for my OCD symptoms. I've taken Lexapro in the past and had no adverse reactions that I can remember. I know pdocs usually say give it two to three weeks, but it could be the Lexapro. Definitely talk to your pdoc. Oh wait, Lexapro gave me gas. That's why I quit taking it.

I know that most medications can have a reverse effect in some people, so what is meant to help depression can actually make people depressed even as an adult.
