Ive been on Effexor for about almost 6 weeks now. Since I lowered my dose to 112 they brought some of the Tremors down. It helps with the anxiety a little bit though I'm still anxious. Especially anxious when going up or down on this drug it's brutal. I'm not getting any relief for depression. Plus this drug is very high maintenance if you don't take it within the same amount of time to take it every day you will get withdrawal it scares the s*** out of me. I have 15 years of recovery clean and the last thing I wanted to do was get on a drug where I would have to go through withdrawal to get off of it. I'm on 112 now and I imagine when I get to 75 it's going to be bad in fact I did it one time for one day and it was bad the anxiety the severe anxiety I don't care about the other side effects. It's the anxiety that I'm not sure I'm going to be able to go with. The doctor I'm seeing now may be able to give me .5 Klonopin daily in the morning and I imagine at 75 she would start me on the new antidepressant which is an SSRI which I do better with Lexapro but 5 mg of Lexapro and going down on Effexor scares me it's a double whammy because a lot of times people get anxiety during their first week on a new antidepressant. So I would be going down one antidepressant a brutal one and going up another antidepressant I'm really really really scared. I know that I would do each dose decrease two weeks because it takes 7 to 10 days for the body to recalculate. I just hope I don't end up in the mental hospital again because coming off of an antidepressant mimics Mania and when you have Mania at a mental hospital they may not give you an antidepressant which scares the s*** out of me. I have no guarantee that even the Lexapro will work on me and accept that Celexa did work for me at one point and Lexapro similar to Celexa. However I feel like Celexa pooped out on me and so the Lexapro Maybe a good place to go however I'm just so scared to taper with these two particular drugs and in the frame of mind that I am in right now not feeling so great kind of depressed but I would never go down to go down and dose faster than 2 weeks

Effector XL will likely take care of the need to take it on a really strict schedule.

I take Effexor but I take the XR form (Extended-release). This may be a solution for you. But talk to your pdoc about it maybe before you make any other switches. I take Effexor XR mostly for depression. I know you've talked about anxiety in your threads, too. I think Effexor XR helps with anxiety for me. It would be worth a try before switching to something else, perhaps, to try the Effexor XR. That is, unless you're just totally done with the drug. I understand that, too, because Effexor XR or normal Effexor isn't good for some people. Good luck, and I hope you feel better soon.

Whether or not you stay on it is up to you. I just offered a thought on my experience and share a piece of info that might make all this easier for you. Best wishes!

I had the exact same with taking the brand named Effexor XR!!! If I was one hour late I was basically in bed until the meds took affect! To get off it I would take the extreme method of opening the capsule and counting those little white balls 30at a time until I weaned myself down to pretty much off. I switched to the generic Effexor RX. But I swear the generic is not like the brand name at all. They say the generic is regulated to be no more than 20% less but it is like a totally different medicine. But it helps and I don’t have to worry about being a little late taking it!

So if you’re taking the brand name the generic could be helpful but it will be different.

Glad to know someone else experienced this as I did!

Good luck!

Hi Misty thank you for your comment it made me feel not so alone. So you're saying that you actually got off the effexor and got on it again. I want completely off. Now are you on tablets or capsules. I am on capsules which take 24 hours to eliminate. But I wanted to get on tablets so that I can read myself off Easier by cutting the pills. However I read that that half life of the regular release generic is 12 hours so it would get out of my system in 12 hours and I start going through withdrawal. So anyway my question was are you on tablets or capsules
