So I've been on 20mg fluoxetine for 5months and I just stopped taking it. I don't know, I don't feel different, I didn't take my meds the whole of August, yet I don't feel any different. I'm still mostly sad and I'm tired all the time.
Has anyone else gone off their meds without telling their Pdoc? How did you cope with all the extra feelings? I really feel like drugs didn't help though. |

I've gone off my meds many times. Sometimes I'm fine for long stretches of time, but and there's always a but the symptoms come back worse. I'm bipolar so this may not be true for you.

hi. prozac has a long half life, so when one stops it, it kind of self-tapers. in fact, some doctors use prozac to help taper off other drugs with shorter half lives.
i hope things go well for you. |

Just went from April to September off my meds...again (Lost count.. typically due to having no insurnace).
My GP is working with me on discounted office visits and making choices I can get discounts on GoodRX. I've started two of the 3 he put me back on, but am hesitant to start the 3rd because of side effects. I may tomorrow. |

I have stopped medication twice without telling PDoc (or even going back). Both times I was feeling that meds didn't work, or they can't fix my troubles. Last time I stopped I started self medicating with a herb. But I continued seeing my T. She convinced me to start back on meds and stop using other substances. Now my PDoc had to double-back and add more meds to stabilize the situation.
