Hi all,

I was wondering if anybody knows the dosage range around which Lamictal becomes active as a mood stabilizer?

From what I can tell, it doesnÂ’t have a determined plasma concentration range (like that of lithium) that can be used to fiddle the dosage up or down.

We are going up very slowly (to lessen the chance of the feared skin rash) by 25 mg every two weeks: if you work it out, IÂ’ll be on the goal dosage of 200 mg in four months. (16 weeks)

IÂ’d certainly prefer doing it this way so I was just wondering the dose range in which Lamictal becomes active.

I'm on 75 mg and it's working well for me. I'm taking it mainly for mood stabilization related to an autism spectrum disorder, the dose may be different for other disorders. 75 mg is on the low side but for me when I went to 100 mg I got manic.

I take 200 mg. Not sure if it's doing anything though. I've missed a few doses and haven't noticed a distance.

Lamictal seems to be a med that really has a range of dosage that works. Personally, I felt "flat" and had a bad tremor at 200mg. Pdoc dropped it to 150mg. and it seems okay.

I've found that Lamtical works best for me out of all the mood stabilizers. I've been on and off it 3 times for various reasons (e.g., losing insurance) but I always end up back on Lamictal.

I take 200mg of Lamictal -- 100mg in the AM and 100mg in the PM. When I was originally prescribed it, I was labeled as Bipolar but they kept me on it to help stabilize my moods when I was re-labeled as Borderline Personality Disorder.

The dosing depends on a variety of factors (other meds you're on, your diagnosis, the severity of your mood swings, your tolerance of the med, etc) so there isn't really a typical dose for Lamictal. However, I will admit that the most common dose I've heard of people taking is 200mg for Bipolar.

Would like to find out too..i was given 50mg to be taken every night, which seems to be a small dose as compared to most of you. Wonder if it also helps with intense anger and anxiety like my dr said.

I think the therapeutic dose is around 250-350 mg. I have been on all sorts of doses up to 600 mg with no relief from depression.

An addendum to my post above: I have increased my Lamictal dose to 200mg. due to falling into depression.
