I started on Zoloft a few months ago because it was said to be less likely to cause weight gain. I was taking 40 mg of Paxil and it was difficult to keep my weight down. I started taking 100 mg of Zoloft and found that it did indeed make me less hungry and I was starting to lose some weight. I went up to 150 mg of Zoloft for awhile. I started experienced extreme anxiety while on Zoloft. I thought it would get better as time went on. However, the longer I stayed on Zoloft, the worse my anxiety got. I finally had my psychiatrist put me back on Paxil. It took about two months before my anxiety was again under control. I don’t know if others have had this problem with Zoloft or not but I would certainly be interested in hearing if others have had the same experience. Paxil appears to be my drug of choice to keep my anxiety under control.

Zoloft gave me the worst panic attacks ever. It eventually sent me into a manic episode.

Hi
I had increased anxiety with Zoloft too (I was taking 100mg). No panic attack or extreme anxiety but it definitely increased my anxiety Drugs I had experience with in the past 14 years: Paroxetine, mirtazapine, bupropion, sertraline, risperidone, quetiapine, venlafaxine and escitalopram. Side effects: Mirtazapine gave me really weird and bad side effect I describe as I felt I was dying. Sertraline increased anxiety and I also experienced muscle tension. Venlafaxine increased my blood pressure even at 75mg. Paroxetine worked well for anxiety & depression but wanted to change after 2 years because I feeling tired all the time, so I decided to go back to escitalopram. Escitalopram worked somehow better to control repetitive thoughts overall and I never really experienced any major side effect with it. I had to quit bupropion due to increased anxiety and weight loss. Quetiapine caused weight gain (increased appetite even at low 50mg dose at night). Risperidone gave me the same "dying feeling" side effect I had with mirtazapine. Sertraline is one of the most activating SSRIs out there that is why some people get more anxious with it even after 6 week treatment. Nonetheless it can be helpful for others with depression and anxiety issues. |

Zoloft is my wonder drug. I take 250mg and it actually helps my anxiety big time. I also lost 30 pounds when I started it.
