I am prescribed Citalopram20 mgs for depression. Omeprazole 40mgs freflux.
A local pharmacist told me the combo can cause irregular heartbeat and seratonin syndrome I think that means a cause of severe headaches,

Told the pdoc, She told me to keep taking both and wait and see if there is a reaction. Called my primary She didn't get back to me yet. I was told by the receptionist it can take up to 48 hrs, for a call back That's okay with me Its a very busy medical office. Meantime thinking of not taking the Citalopram. Honestly not certain what else to do. Your thoughts on pdoc's wait&see?

I'm not an expert in psychopharmacology interactions. Your citalopram dose (20mg) + omeprazole shouldn't be much of an issue... However higher than 20mg/day citalopram + omeprazole is not recommended in the Citalopram Prescription Information

Talk to your doctor to switch from omeprazole to pantoprazole. Citalopram + pantoprazole is safter than omeprazole + citalopram according to this study: PMC4297217 (google PMC4297217 to read the study)

If you have a history of heart issues then you might talk to your doctor about switching to another SSRI. If Citalopram is working well for you there is no need to change it in my opinion and your doctor might consider an alternative to deal with your stomach issues.
Bear in mind I'm not a doctor or pharmacist but the best advice I can give to you is don't stop taking medication and make an appointment as soon as you can.

At one point I was taking a bunch of meds that affect seratonin. My pdoc told me that seratonin syndrome is very rare-he had one case in 20 years. That is perhaps why your pdoc told you to give it a try and see if you have a bad reaction.
