I'm tapering off from 150mg a day.
I'm at 112mg now, it's supposed to be for a month! Why is my doc tapering me off so slow?? Then he wants me to go to 75mg next month.
i can't stand the way this med makes me feel and the withdrawal.

It needs a slow withdrawal so the withdrawal effects won't be so bad.

hi. effexor can be -rough- to discontinue. slow and steady wins the race, as they say. sometimes, doctors will switch over to Prozac and then taper, because Prozac has a long half life, so it makes the discontinuation process less ridiculously miserable.

sorry about this. :-(

Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. Tapering faster would likely just make you feel worse plus its safer to taper off slowly. Hope you feel better soon.

Effexor is one nasty little drug with big withdrawal symptoms.

Especially if you stop cold turkey (which is how my doctor did it with me)!

I'm glad your doctor is aware of this and is slowly tapering you off.

Thanks for this!

You have a good doctor who is getting you off of the effexor the right way.
