Hey yall.
Im on Bupropion atm 150mg. I feel the need to increase the dose to 300mg bc the little effect (which was good) I had from 150mg in the beginning somehow faded. Is here anybody who can tell me of its ok to take 2 150mg pills (bc I have it already) or do I need the 300mg pills? Why do I ask this here? Bc my Doc quit and I had an appointment at a mew Doc today and I waited for weeks for it. But I forgot my insurance card at home bc I was so all over the place today so the new Doc was not able to even talk to me. **** the System, really. I have a new appointment in some weeks, but I dont want to wait so long. Since I didnt had any side effects from the medicine I think its totally fine to higher the dosage on my own. I think Im pretty aware w this kind of stuff, just a bit unsure about the topic w delayed release meds. So did anybody of u take just 2 150mg pills when u increased the dosage? Thx a lot. |

I think that's something to ask a pharmacist to be on the safe side.
![]() I tell you. Doctor's offices can be cruel. Have to get the doctor's pay, of course! |

I'd suggest to wait until you see your new doctor, Sophia-Marie. Changing meds can be very dangerous for your own health and I think it's worth waiting a little longer to avoid potentially dangerous side effects. I know, it sucks to wait, but try to hang on a little longer. It's for your own good. Please don't give up. Hopefully you'll be able to find the right meds combination for you. Wish you good luck! Let us know how it goes. Sending many hugs to you

With deserved respect to the Traveling Lady and pharmacists, a pharmacist can tell you that 150+150=300, but you shouldn't double your dosage without consulting your doctor.

That same feeling wears off at 300mg too. It takes about two weeks.

I for myself am just through some medications so I can, also with all deserved respect, tell u what will happen: I will tell the doc I want to up the dosage. The doc will say: ok lets try it. I had this w almost any psych meds I took. Like this, or the other way around. The doc dont knows how u feel inside or what side effects u have. U have to find out. And then tell them. I had paradox effects on some meds that have been prescribed for me. The docs couldnt know that beforehand. With this things its always a try bc we all react so different on it. If one med has zero side effects on u, ur liver and kidneys work well and u dont have other contra indications (which would have prevented the doc from prescribing u the med in the first place) then there is no reason for them to speak up against increasing the dose for sometime to see how u react. Just want to say that Im not going to take wild amounts of an untested med an unknow stranger sold me in a dark street at midnight. I did my own research on the drug, the effects and side effects before I accepted the first prescribtion. Im always very careful what I put in my body and I only do it when its needed. |

It's double, but it's really just the next dose up, and the dose most people who take it end up on anyway. I would call my doctor and tell him what I'm going to do, though. It's beyond ridiculous that you can't do that. I don't think the pharmacist would take the chance of legal problems by giving you permission either.

You will only know if 300 mg helps by trying it but in my case--I couldn't sleep at all on 300 mg a day. I was on 150 mg a day for a long time but have figured out it makes me sleep less. Now I only take 100 mg a day. I can't seem to manage without it (I feel depressed without it) but I think higher doses were making me a bit manic. Did you know there is also a 200 mg a day pill? IMHO, when you go to the doctor, you might want to try increasing to 200 mg a day first. That's just me though--I try to get by with low doses of psych meds whenever possible but I do think they effect everyone differently.

If you are asking if you will die the answer honestly is- it depends. One of the biggest risks with wellbutrin is it reduces your seizure threshhold. So if you are prone to seizures even if you didnt know it, it could be dangerous. Doubling the dose might be "technically" what your doctor would do but because you would be doing this without a doctor's permission you could be putting yourself at risk.

Would have been a good step in between for sure. I will talk about this w my doc the next appointment, when they hopefully will talk to me... Bc that time I will make sure I have my insurance card w me. I take 300 now for the second day. Yesterday it felt like it gave me slightly more drive. I didnt feel a difference in being tired in the evening to the 150mg so far. |
