I've been taking lexapro for almost a year and a half now and I think its working some but its the only medication I've taken so I don't know how strong of an effect it is actually supposed to have. My mom keeps telling me i should try something else since i still get anxious but the medicine does help my depression so i just don't know.
also she keeps talking about just going to a clinic instead of the mental health facility i go to now since its cheaper and they kind of don't do much . I've heard most normal health clinics just sort of guess on what to give you. i have no clue what I'm actually gonna do sooo... |

I'm in favor of going to a mental health clinic since they are more familiar with the medications than a general clinic. Maybe your psychiatrist could order an additional med for your anxiety. For instance, I am on Geodon which handles most of my symptoms but I'm still anxious. My doc ordered an additional med for anxiety and it's better. I hope this is helpful for you.

I've thought about it but my mother isn't a fan of me taking one pill much less 2. she knows they help and she tries to support it but shes the kind of person who thinks the less medication the better. which is true to an extent but sometimes it hard to deal with and more medication can possibly be beneficial.

I would also stay with the mental health facility. If you need more meds then you need more meds. Your mom will have to come to terms with it.

It may be worth trying an additional med to augment the Lexapro, as it seems worth staying on that since it's helping your depression. There are a few anti-anxiety drugs that can be added with antidepressants, so it's worth asking about that. While the idea of needing multiple meds may not seem ideal, it could be very helpful. Hope you can get the help you need!
I'm about to change meds (having a med-free day at the moment before starting new meds tomorrow). I've been on Zoloft for over a year (50mg for about two months, 75mg for about ten months and 100mg for one month), but it seemed to stop working for me and the last dose increase only seemed to give me side effects. Tomorrow I'll start taking 10mg Celexa (which I know is a very low dose, but I had horrible initial side effects with 50mg Zoloft, so starting at a low dose seems like a good idea - I'll probably end up increasing to 20mg after a while).
