Hi
A maybe weird question, and sort of hard to explain but does anyone else feel like you might see like movement in your "side vision" almost like you have seen a spider move or run but it's not actually there, but it's not like i actually see a spider it's more a movement in my "side vision" and like a bit more paranoid about certain things for example I doomed a spider and I was slowly looking over the verandah and in my mind I could almost picture this thing jumping up and attaching itself to my face. I sound nuts even reading this to myself... I've been on my meds for about 2 years and it took awhile to find the right combo for depression, and this is a more recent thing that happens on and off. I haven't told my psychiatrist, firstly it's sounds too weird to explain and I'm not sure if he will believe me, and secondly I'm scared he will believe me and want to change my meds, i can't deal with going through that again. I have other symptoms some manageable and others seem to be more extreme when i am under extreme stress, well i presume they are side effects and not just me 😕 Sorry now I'm waffling... Has anyone had weird side effects from Wellbutrin Methylphenidate Alchera Thanks |

Hi Sarah
Thanks for the article. I have heard of floaters and have also wondered if that was a possibility, because my vision also goes blury at times, but this feels somehow different like you think you maybe have seen something but then it's not. It's so hard to explain. The floaters are weird because when you stare at one spot you can see those little spec things moving slowly to the side. These meds help but sometimes you start to wonder is this really who you are and what would you be like off them, but at the same time too scared to go through the withdrawing of the meds and these also help keep my eating under control. Sorry I'm doing the waffling thing again. Thanks for your reply x |

maybe stimulant related? not to scare you, but that stuff is reported now and then in the "ritalin kids." eek.
i don't know your health care situation...can you run it by a general practitioner who won't mess with the line up? just to get some input without being afraid of messing things up? just a thought... |

I'm on different medications to you, but do sometimes think I see something moving out of the corner of my eye. It always freaks me out, as we had a bad cockroach problem several months ago, and now I'm afraid they're back. I've had this peripheral vision issue for ages now, and just thought it was my eyes aging. But it is possible it could be a meds side effect.

Definitely bring up your concerns with your primary doctor or psychiatrist. I know med changes are difficult, but they are necessary sometimes as our symptoms change. I have peripheral vision images at times as well, where I see something fleetingly out of the corner of my eye. Sometimes it looks like a person, or shadow of something "other" than what I expect should be there. It could be med related in your case, but how disturbing are these images? In my case they rarely happen so I chalk it up to a "what the hell?" moment.

I would be concerned about the paranoia though, and would definitely bring that up.

They can only treat what they are aware of. You are not crazy. You were born with chemical Inbalances in your body that affect your mind and emotions. People who take psychotropic drugs like Lsd or certain strains of marijuana have hallucinations, both audible, visional, something physical, or scent. Chemistry is key. If you tell them your symptoms, then they can treat those symptoms. People think that those of us who suffer from mental illness are always insane, never stable. We both know that's not true. Do you have health insurance? Maybe you could get a genetic test done to see what medications might best treat your symptoms.

If you had diabetes it would be for life. There is no golden bullet for mental illness. You can have moments of stability, but therapy like cognitive behavioral therapy helps us cope with and recognize triggers that set off our symptoms. Medications are needed to balance out the chemistry going on in our brains and gut.

You have a "faulty" body, for lack of a better term. If you were born parapalegic you would have to learn ways to cope. The whole world would see your difficulties in getting through a day. Mental illness is invisible to the public until we are in a unbalanced state. You may not always be sane in your thinking, I'm not, but hallucinations have many causes, it does not mean you are not currently sane.

Eye floaters that are not severe are normal and part of the aging process. Years ago I was on a medication Avapro (SSRI). Each morning when I woke up i would see grey snow. ??? It didn't hang around for long but it was a side affect. It went away when I stopped taking the medication.
Medications can do odd things and have a myriad of side effects. Some can increase our anxieties which can fool our brains and imaginations. Other meds can cause actual hallucinations. Please check back in with your doctor and talk about what is happening for you. Maybe another medication would be more suitable. |
