Ok so the angry outbursts out of the way first. The health board switched my tablet from XR to immediate release to save money because of cuts. I of course requested for it to be switched back because I don't just need it to fall asleep. It's an all rounder for my mood during the day too. I felt as if I was experiencing with drawal every single day as my tablet was wearing off. I also find it works better taken at night as one dose. Splitting it up as part at night and part in the morning is like flogging a dead horse. The XR is best for my bi-polar one. For sleep immediate release I can see the method but not for other disorders. I need a steady stream so the XR is not just miles better, the immediate release did not work for me at all.

I wonder of the request came from the doctor that prescribed it would they be any more likely to switch it back?

I would have asked for a second opinion if the doctor changed it. Or contacted patient support at the citizens advice bureau. But since it was based on saving money and not how effective the medicine was I think the doc would have switched it back.

I dealt with this with a different med. My insurance company wanted me to try " X " med to see if that worked before I tried the medication that I had been on ??? Sometimes I feel so frustrated .... I'm sorry you're going through this.

hi. old school seroquel was split into 2, sometimes 3, doses per day. some people did even splits (100, 100) others would take more at night, less during the day. sorry this has happened to you.

See, XR at least the potential to last throughout the day. This is true for for many long/slow/extended release drugs.
Whether it is for the purpose of mood stabilizing, or say medication for ADHD; if you take a stimulant to focus during classes, you -may- find that your focus begins wavering when studying or doing homework later in the day. Some people who take a immediate release of a sleeping tablet (especially those that are geared towards helping you fall asleep) will wake up in the early hours of the morning. The extended release has the ability to help insomnia of falling asleep and that of staying asleep. __________________ Tic-Tac |
