I switched from pristiq to zoloft and within 6 months and gained 30lbs. I'm a small girl so 30lbs is quite the amount.
I have managed to stop gaining with diet and exercise.. but I CANNOT lose a single pound.
The scales do not budge and I'm unsure what to do next!! I would switch back, but the zoloft is better for my anxiety and is covered by my insurance. Pristiq is not.

Any advice? The weight gain is just too much to accept and ignore.

Can you get an RX card and see how much the pristiq is with that? I have one and prescriptions can cost a lot less with one. Without insurance one of my prescriptions costs $160. With the card it only costs $60. And that’s for a 3 month supply My brother is on one med that is over a thousand dollars with his insurance but he only pays $60 a month.

I also gained 30 pounds on Zoloft.

Why did you switch? It's almost impossible to lose weight with some of these meds. I now take Wellbutrin, since it's weight neutral.

Zoloft really helps me too but the side effects of worse sexual performance and weight gain suck. I asked my psych to keep the Zoloft (sertraline, I take the generic) dose very low (I only take 25 mg a day and have days where I skip so I can enjoy sex more but I do get more anxious and talkative when I skip doses). I also take Wellbutrin (bupropion). I really like bupropion--it helps with my depression but at too high of a dose, I can't sleep and have more anxiety so I ask for the dose to be only 100 mg or 150 mg--it doesn't feed hypomania/anxiety at these doses. I wonder if your insurance would cover bupropion? Wellbutrin/bupropion can actually help some people lose weight so if you could lower the Zoloft then compensate by adding bupropion--you might be able to lose weight. Having a healthy weight is as important to our physical health as these drugs are for our mental health. Sorry this happened to you -- the side effects of the drugs that help our mental issues can really suck.
