I started taking lexapro and I got some weird side effects. My throat.felt like it was closing, I couldn't remember simple things I said or did, started seeing spots during my class. I told my psychiatrist and he said to stop taking it. Has anyone ever had any of these side effects?

You haven't said how much you started on?????? Sounds like normal side start up effects , its they freak you out and seem worse than they are sometimes. A ideal situation if your bad with depression is not to SCHOOL OR WORK FOR THE FIRST 2 WEEKS ON MEDS. a bad depression you would not get out of bed never mind work;
Thanks for this!

I started on 10 mg. I have to attend class regularly and do other activities daily so I can't stop because of the meds. My depression isn't terrible right now but my doc said those side effects weren't normal. I got more normal side effects like headaches and insomnia and fatigue.

If you think they are to bad then your doc is right.

I think that it's ok for start up and withdrawal. When on prozac 80mg and risperidone 2mg, I felt as if I had Alzheimer's. When I stopped prozac I started to hallucinate a little but its fine after a week.

I'd prefer to not have side effects that affect my memory

Was on that many years ago, but for only a few weeks. Only thing I noticed was crazy, vivid nightmares. Doc took me off it when I told her.

Wow that sucks. It just made me feel so different and the doc said my side effects weren't normal.

"My throat.felt like it was closing,"

That sounds like a classic symptom of allergy. Definitely a good reason to stop!
Thanks for this!

I loved lexapro because it made me feel better almost instantly . Unfortunately I only lasted 3 weeks on it because I had crazy painfully restless legs. Also had those weird fake half yawns
