I take a med cocktail for depression w/bipolar "features" and lately I just don't feel that great. Two of my meds are activating: Adderall, which was prescribed for relentless fatigue/depression several years ago and Fetzima. I was taking the Fetzima for three months but started feeling really jittery and anxious; I think it was due to the interaction between the Fetzima and Adderall. I stopped taking the Fetzima several days ago and now I'm not feeling so good. The nervousness is gone but my mood isn't so good and I'm irritable. I also take 15 mg Remeron and Geodon at bedtime and wonder if increasing the Remeron would improve my mood. I'm nervous about calling my doctor b/c she probably won't be pleased that I stopped 80 mg Fetzima cold turkey. I'm not sure what to do but something's got to change. Has anyone noticed improved mood on higher doses of Remeron?

I know we are all "guilty" of playing doctor with our meds, especially if we have years under our belts of taking meds. But in cases of meds like this, an SNRI stopping cold turkey is really dangerous beyond the initial feelings that come with stopping. Your doc will probably not be happy you did stop but you have to tell the doctor. SNRI's when used in conjunction with atypical antipsychotics are very much in tune with each other. When you suddenly stop one, it affects the way the others work. If you think the side effects are because of the mix with adderall it is better to talk to your doc and lower the adderall. IMO>

Thanks! My doctor told me to increase my Remeron. She looked up my history and saw that I hadn't responded well to Fetzima once before. I'm just hoping I don't gain any more weight from the Remeron, so I'm exercising and eating healthy. Today was actually a better day!
