You may have seen my mention of this in the Anxiety thread. I am serious though; that, being outdoors is the best pill of all for recovery and maintenance of improved mental health. I think the further you are immersed into the outdoors and the more wilderness it is the better is is for making you feel whole. Maybe you live in the city. There must be some green space somewhere to go to. While not the wilderness it certainly is a start. I am fortunate that I can find spaces of outdoors within an hour's drive. THe best though is getting to the big thick forests, mountains, and large bodies of water. If you can, grab the chance.

My town has a big park and a trail multi use that goes around a lake. It's very peaceful there. I agree with you being in nature helps mental health so much for me.

I've been enjoying sitting out on my back deck, watching the birds at our bird feeders and enjoying the sunshine.

Wishful Thinker I’m wondering if you did the totally immersive experience - that is, backpacking into the wilderness - or if not, exactly what the circumstances of your wilderness experience were? Did you rent a tent, as in Yosemite? Or did you bring your own tent and set it up?

I completely agree. I love to get outside and away from everything as much as possible. I always feel better.

We are back from our camping trip. I wanted to share a few pictures. The first one is of our campsite. We had everything all to ourselves including a path to swim in the river.
![]() ![]() The second pic is me right before we reached the summit of Mt Tammaney ![]() The third is the actual summit elevation 1536'. It was THE hardest climb I ever had. Not quite mountain climbing but way steeper and longer than hiking. It was a 4 mile hike split half and half up and then down. it was 100 degrees that day and I thought I would die. I am getting to old for this. The Delaware water gap is beautiful and if anyone is ever on the east coast of the US they should consider going. 4 days of being completely outside (including a wolf preserve) did my soul good.
