Hello! I've been having trouble with doctors for the past couple of months when it comes to helping me with my anxiety and mood swings. The doctors in my network seem inexperienced/uninterested in helping me with my mental health. It's basically at the point where I'm given a list of medications and I pick and choose which one I want to try next.
![]() So far, I've tried different brand beta-blockers and have come to the conclusion that those do not help. ![]() Escitalopram really made me drowsy and dull, I had absolutely no desire to do anything but sleep. ![]() Sertraline was great (besides the excessive sweating) until I got used to the dose at 100 mg and my anxiety came back and I had little control over my emotions again. I currently pop a hydroxyzine whenever I know my anxiety could cause a panic attack (social events, work meetings) but it also makes me extremely drowsy and doesn't do much for my moods. SOOoo if anyone has any suggestions or wouldn't mind sharing what has/hasn't worked for them and their situation, I would very much appreciate it ![]() |

Have you considered an SNRI or tricyclic instead of the SSRI's?

I agree with Sarahsweets. SNRIs and tricyclics work better for me than SSRis. I did really well on Effexor for several years and Cymbalta as well (at different times). I recently started taking Doxepin, a tricyclic, for insomnia and depression...so far, so good but I'll have to see if I need a higher dose.
