I have Bipolar 1 and my meds provider has me only on 2mg Rexulti and 300mg Wellbutrin. Last manic episode was several years ago. I’m 45. Do manic episodes go away after getting older. What do you guys think?

I had always expected my BD to more or less fade away as I aged. Unfortunately, the further I got into mid-life, the worse my symptoms have become - that is especially true of mania.

My doctor believes that the manic episodes get worse as you get older..That has held true for me but not for all people.

I wasn’t diagnosed until age 43 but looking back I showed signs of Bipolar around age 6 ..

So decades white knuckling life

My T and Pdoc of 8 years feel that for me Bipolar will likely get worse and I have watched it happen, I kick and claw to stay stable but at least twice a year I get bad enough where I should be IP

As for your medication it’s always best to take the lowest amount that you can to find baseline and enjoy stability.

Make sure you learn as many coping skills as possible, we can never have too many of those.

There is a forum here for Bipolar, you might want to check out..

My story is broadly almost identical to Christina's and it most certainly has not burned itself out or gotten better with advancing years.
