Thank you for having me in the forums! Hello~
I have finally been beaten into the realization that I will just be on meds for... ever!

Currently on Wellbutrin & Cymbalta (generics) and this combination works well BUT the side effects are just too much for me so... I have an appointment to go to the doctors tomorrow. Maybe replacing the Cymbalta with Buspar???

Anyone have any insight on that note?

Much thanks!
G

Do you know or mind sharing what dosage she takes? I have heard to dosage needs to be pretty high to be effective...?

BuSpar never helped me, but (like Christina) my daughter has taken it for years and finds it very helpful. I'm sorry, I don't remember her dose.

BuSpar kinda helped, when I took it with a drug that did stuff to serotonin. cymbalta does, wellbutrin not so much. i dunno...its kinda like it boosted an antidepressant, more than anything else. but that's me. some people take it and swear by it, etc.

If it's an anxiety situation and the Buspar does not work (was of no use to me), Klonopin generally is pretty efficacious for most folks, but then, you have to deal with side effects potentially and the prospect of one day having to do the dreaded Klonopin taper, which often takes months.

Another anxiety option, assuming you're willing to consider an anti-p is low dose Seroquel. I find it to be quite effective.

and...gabapentin. or the uber-gabapentin, lyrica. i think both can help some people with chronic pain, too...I'm guessing in combination with standard Rx....

Hello All! Thank you for everyone who replied. I know everyone responds differently but I like to hear experiences that way I know what I "might" possibly be in for.

I did go to the Doctor last week and I cahnged from Wellbutrin 450mg XL plus Cymbalta 60mg to Wellburtin & Buspar.

So trying Buspar in place of the Cymlalta... which kinda stinks because that combination (W&C) worked really well on my symptoms. The "W" helped with my depression and the "C" helped with my anxiety & Fibro pain. BUT Cymbalta's side effect I just could no longer deal with... besides the fact on zero sex drive I had horrific constipation I mean I was eating handfuls of stool softners and laxatives and still having issues! The other side effects like the weight gain from it I would have dealt with but the constipation was not doable any longer.

So far on the Buspar I seem fine other than some expected side effects but nothing I cannot tolerate until it passes. I am feeling really positive about my new combo so only time will tell as we all know.

But thank you!

Do you mind sharing about if the meds are targeting specific symptoms or a disorder?

I am just now actually trying Gabapentin but not sure what a "therapudic dose" might be they only started me on 100mg and that seems extremely low... IDK.

interesting. I'm about to start gabapentin too. It's being prescribed by my addictions Dr as an anti-craving med, for alcohol, but she said it might also help with my anxiety, now that I'm tapering off of clonazepam. Checked with my psychiatrist and my pharmacy and they all said it was safe with my current meds, so I'm going to try it.

Let us know how it goes.

I'm starting at 100 mg twice daily.
