For years I had trouble falling asleep and was prescribed several different meds. At some point, insomnia changed to oversleeping. Now I can sleep 12+ hours every day and still don't feel refreshed.
Now I take 50 mg of Amitriptyline before going to bed. I enjoy the effect but today my new therapist (who has no medical education) told me that all people she knows who take Amitriptyline experience sleepiness and low quality of sleep. Have any of you taken Amitriptyline? How was your experience with the drug? __________________ “Rincewind rather enjoyed times like this. Can you ask the person who prescribes the medicine whether you can take it in the morning? I haven't taken this medicine, but I know that sometimes meds can be sleep-inducing or activating. If it has an activating effect on you, my best idea would be to try taking it in the morning instead, but talk to your prescriber before you do that. __________________ "Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it.
