I am on Wellbutrin XL.

So far it is helping my depression.

But I got an annoying side effect.

Shaking/Trembling hands.

Thanks, Creepah. I have tremors from other meds and take Amantadine for it, which does help. Have you been prescribed anything for your tremors?

I haven't been prescribed anything for the hand tremors yet.

I need to let my psychiatrist know.

Wellbutrin XL is a med that I recently started.

Been on it for a couple of weeks now.

Thanks for letting me know that there is a med for hand tremors.

I'll see what my pdoc recommends.

Got hand shakes too so I started using it as necessary (when I am going low). Seems like two or three days of it gets me over the hump. Rather not take more drugs to counteract a side effect. The law applies..."For every action, there is a reaction." Try using it every other day or so.

There are several. Cogentin, propanalol, Amantadine.

I have been on wellbutrin for years. It was energizing at first so I took it in the morning. It has worked great for the depressive side of my bipolar. It also helped me quit smoking. I woke up one day and they tasted funny after a two pack a day habit for years.

I was on 75 milligrams and my anxiety was really bad. It isn’t good for people with anxiety. My doctor stopped it because of the loss of appetite side effect and my therapist and him thought I was developing issues. He tried putting me on remeron but I stopped that on my own after a 14 pound weight gain in 2 weeks. My Geodon and Xanax are increased now.

Thanks, G! That's terrific about the smoking. I don't smoke, but I've heard that buproprion really helps people quit.

My one concern about Wellbutrin is that it might worsen my anxiety. I'm so worn down from sedating meds, though.

I thought Remeron was horrible. I gained a lot of weight on it and it didn't help me in any way.

I like it, I am on it now. I don’t have chronic depression, this is probably my second episode (the last one being five or six years ago) I specifically requested it because it was more energizing than other meds and I’ve been exhausted. It took awhile to see benefit but last week, I suddenly realized I was enjoying practicing medicine again. Both the intellectual aspects as well as patient interactions .kind of out of nowhere. So I think it’s going well. I get tinnitus occasionally from it but it only lasts a few minutes and doesn’t really bother me

Hi, I'm sorry- I am just seeing your post. Thank you for asking!

Yes, I started Wellbutrin and all went well. So my pdoc switched me from 200mg/day "regular" Wellbutrin to 150mg./day Wellbutrin XL. So far, so good! I feel more focused and I'm not falling asleep all day.

My only disappointment is that my doctor isn't yet willing to recommend that I completely stop Pristiq. I'm hoping to go off the Pristiq this spring and find out if I can use only the Wellbutrin as an antidepressant.

I just started Wellbutrin last week and am hopeful. I added it to lexapro, lamictal and latuda. Good luck!
