So, pharmacies are telling me that they can't get a reliable supply of (generic) Adderall due to Covid. This has been happening for several months. In fact, just last month I was w/o it for 3 days due to "out of stocked"..hell, I switched pharmacies b/c of this and now I am getting the same problems at the new one (and this one is a major pharmacy chain). I should have been able to refill my prescription today but I can't b/c of this. I won't go into how angry I am as it just gets my blood pressure up to the point I could literally strangle someone. lol
For those in the U.S., is there an alternative, generic and affordable CNS stimulant similar to Adderall that isn't *totally reliable* on a global (mostly china) maker/manufacturer? I have searched for an answer online but nothing is out there that helps me. Only other option is to change med and that will be a big headache due to my psych clinic being already booked up most of the time. I take this for unipolar depression as nothing else works and it's causing me to become very unstable mentally so reaching out before things become too unstable and things get bad again. |

There are other stimulates in the same class as Adderall or close to it in how it might help.
Whatever condition, you may have. As your pdoc"hopefully" has prescribed. Most regular practitioners will not go into this type of meds. and the the diagnosis is usually for a pdoc. This is a list of some other choices like Vyvanse and others Here is the link and talk to your pdoc. I hope. I’m so glad to read this. Because I’ve been on adderall for 15 years and this isn’t as bad as the “great adderall shortage of the early 00’s” where it was literally a supply issue. But what I’ve been having a fit over is random price increases from the pharma industry. My favorite generic for years all of a sudden went up so much 4 months ago my mom and pop place said it was too much for them when it came to their reimbursement. I trust them and the whole reason I switched to them years ago was for that same reason and generic manufacturer preference. So then my pharmacist and I went over others to try and I settled on a newer one. I pay cash for part of mine because my insurance only covers three pills a day. For two months this is OK and then Friday of last week I was told the same thing was happening again and he would have to order a new or different generic manufacturer. So I waited until yesterday and received a brand that I was unimpressed with but what can I do? I’ll have to check the FDA site again it’s been awhile to see what I can find out. I don’t see how this has to do with COVID because all last year it was fine. __________________ "I carried a watermelon?" President of the no F's given society. |

Maybe a good pdoc can make sure you get the stimulants you need to be productive.
I do not take dexamp or adderall Usually it ends up going down a rabit hole Like the overuse of any tolerant/abusive drug ie. benzo's but a decent pdoc that has been rxing / calling etc.them to your pharmacy should strong arm them. I say that as I have been with the same pdoc for a long time and he will straighten things out quickly with text from me. As far as shortages, I have no idea since I am not on one in the stimulant category. There are a lot of pharmacists out there that like to play god or have act like they have the powers of a clinical doctor. Sorry, but there are a lot of good pharmacists that try not to deny a direct pdocs orders. If you need more help as far as a pdoc is concerned I live in Denver, CO and the pdoc I have used for years specializes in psychotherapy, and is a great caring pdoc all around. __________________ ~"There is a crack in everything.
