I have been on zyprexa 15mg for a few years. The weight gain and the taxing on my diabetes has taken a toll on me. My pdoc and I decided it was time to come off of it. So I am taking 10mg for two weeks then 5mg for two weeks and off of it. My question is has anyone else had a hard time coming off of it. I have been really anxious and irritable plus lack of sleep. We discussed once I was off of zyprexa maybe moving to saphris. I am also on abilify as another AP.

Hi, I hope you are doing ok.

I take Abilify and Zyprexa.

I've never been able to come off of the Zyprexa fully - I've been up to 20 mg of it - however, lowering the dose in my case has been helpful sometimes.

In my layperson opinion, I would think that going down by 2.5 mg increments would be better every two weeks but of course I'm not your doc.

Could you suggest that you go down slower, if you're having those symptoms? Did the doctor say you could expect symptoms like that?

I, personally, don't think I can go down further on Zyprexa than down to 5 mg, but of course, your situation may be different and perhaps you can get by without it.
