How did you lose weight on Quetiapine?
Anyone find ket or low carb actually work while taking meds |

I wish I had an answer for you. I gained 100 pounds on Seroquel. I tried to eat better but my main problem was I was always hungry so it did not matter so much what I ate but how much. I have been off Seroquel for about a year now and have lost 44 pounds. We tried to take me off many times because of the wait issues but it was the only thing working so I kept going back to it. Ever since I got off my appetite is less and fast food now makes me sick so I have to eat better.
So I think portion control is a big part and not a specific type of diet program. But that is just my experience. Others may have tried certain diets but I am not disciplined enough to stick to one thing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

My insurance called me one time a few years ago and asked if I’d be willing to switch from Geodon to either seroquel or risperdal. I told them absolutely not.

I'm so glad you got off Seroquel. It must be a relief to be off it.
Unfortunately this is the only one I can tolerate. I tend to want to eat all the time, less to do with being actually hungry. I'm working on it. Thanks |

I gained over 100lbs. on Seroquel. As a result, I have high blood pressure, high glucose, and high cholesterol. When I was on the stuff I felt like I was constantly hungry, and if I didn't eat I felt unwell.
Seroquel was poison for me. As of last week I am finally, completely off it, after 7 years. I'm hoping I will lose some weight now. Like Crook pointed out, it's not what you eat it's how much. But trying portion control when you feel like you're starved is very difficult. __________________ |

I'm on Seroquel too and struggling with weight gain. I was constantly on a low-carb diet before, until it stopped working so I tried to control my weight by going to the gym before the pandemic, and now gaining it all back plus more. It's so frustrating. I'm also on BCP for PCOS, so it adds to the weight gain.

I’ve heard that metformim can be used to keep weight down, and if your antipsychotic weight gain is severe your psychiatrist may be open to hearing that as a suggestion. Personally for me stimulant medication has been keeping my antipsychotic weight down, but that’s obviously not an option for everyone and I don’t take it specifically for weight loss.
