I just chugged a 64oz bottle of diet green tea and I’ve heard green tea messes with your meds and I’m wondering why and how it does that.

I know kava does that to the point I can’t drink it anymore because I’ve had problems.

I currently just have a headache and a stomach ache but it could possibly just be the volume of what I drank more then what I drank.

I've never heard of that. I drink green tea and matcha pretty frequently and have never had a problem with any of the meds I've been on over the years but that's just my personal experience

I’ve never heard of that either. Still drink green tea and haven’t noticed any effects.

Why do I remember that caffeine can increase the risk for serotonin syndrome?

I've never heard that about green tea. Google it and see if you can get any info.

This is what it said when I googled it

“Taking green tea along with stimulant drugs might cause serious problems including increased heart rate and high blood pressure. Avoid taking stimulant drugs along with caffeine”

It says you shouldn’t be drinking it with beta blockers.

It also says

“Beta-blockers, Propranolol, and Metoprolol -- Caffeine (including caffeine from green tea) may increase blood pressure in people taking propranolol and metoprolol (medications used to treat high blood pressure and heart disease)”

I’m on propranolol for the physical side effects of anxiety. I haven’t had any issues today from the 64oz I chugged. My anxiety is actually lower then it has been these last few days. I just remember my last therapist mentioning it being an issue. Kava you should for sure avoid if you have mental health issues. I’ve had issues with that a few times and I finally had to get rid of all my tea that had it.

I usually get decaf green tea bags. Unless its like a jasmine green tea combo flavor. In which case i will combine it with a decaf green tea.

I can see how 64 oz of diet green tea might make one queasy. Even that much water in a shortish time would, for me.

Green tea doesn't have nearly as much caffeine as coffee does. I'm not sure what to think. I drink green tea occasionally and have never noticed any problem.
