So I have severe adverse reactions to antidepressants, for example, three weeks on Cymbalta and have been in the hospital for the past 4 days because of directly related complications from the medication.

All antidepressants in all categories are like this for me, causing horrific adverse reactions. I DESPISE psych medication for me.

I am happy they work for others but they just do not work for me.

The only things that do work for me unfortunately are moderate alcohol or benzos as needed but these are deemed to have serious adverse effects also.

However, did you ever read the scary list of severe short and long term side effects from antidepressants???

I have a theory that moderate alcohol (1-2 glasses wine or hard seltzer) or cautious disciplined dosing of benzos are more beneficial and safer.

Any thoughts?

Sadly I don't know enough to have an opinion. I take benzos for panic attacks but they make me feel poorly. So I try to avoid them if I can. I used a drink a glass of red wine but haven't had any alcohol since the beginning of the SARS-COvid-2 pandemic.

My mom drinks a few glasses of wine at night and then takes a lorazepam to sleep.

She tried antidepressants but it prolonged the QTc interval of her heart and made her anxious.

If things work, they work.. Maybe not forever... But when the time comes, you will look back and think, "It worked for a while"...
