I've only taken it for 2 days. I got real depressed today.

So I Googled the drug. It seems some people do get very depressed on Depakote.

It's an anti-convulsant that gets ordered for psych problems also.

Anyone care to share their experience with this drug? All feedback will be much appreciated.

I was on this drug years ago, as an "experimental" medication. The NP-P I was seeing put me on 500mg. I recall not really feeling any different. But I was on it for only a short while before the NP-P took me off of it.

Thank you. In the past I was put on it to help alleviate depression. Like you describe, I didn't feel any effect from it. A few nights ago I tried resuming it to see if it would help me sleep. It didn't. But yesterday I got very depressed. Then I read online that it can cause depression. I appreciate your feedback.

Yeah, someone over on the bipolar forum even calls it "Depress-akote." I mentioned this to my IP doc and he got a kick out of it said it's pretty accurate.

I take Depakote have done for 12 years. Its mostly effective so they say for highs not so good with the lows. I still get depressed on it. But I can't take anti-depressants as they send ne high so I gave to rid it all out myself which is a delight (not!)
