Hi friends,

I have been getting nauseated a lot in the mornings. These are the medications I take in the mornings: Trintellix 20 mg, Duloxetine 60 mg, Vyvanse 60 mg, Atorvastatin 10 mg, Lisinopril 40 mg, Iron, and Fish Oil. I usually take them on an empty stomach. Maybe I should try them with food?

I would take the last 4 at bedtime. I DO take lisinopril and atorvastatin myself, at bedtime.

I take my psych meds at bedtime too, otherwise they make me sleepy, what with pulling me up and down.

Most meds have such long half-lives, they dont dwindle down to nothing in your bloodstream by the evening. You are still under the influence!

And my blood pressure and cholesterol are both very good.

Your blood sugar could be low when you wake up. Also agree with unLuna that it can be your night time meds still affecting you. I doubt there’s a simple straightforward correlation, we’re complex creatures. It could be a bit of all three things, night meds, am meds and blood sugar.

Nammu, what i meant re night meds was: AFAIK, slumber isnt taking night meds. If she switches her meds to night, you might think, oh, from noon to bedtime, my blood level of meds (not sugar) is low since i took them 12+ hours ago. I am saying this is probably not an issue, as many/most meds stay in your bloodstream for a while, unless they are known to have a very short half-life, in which case you will be instructed to take them like 2 or 3 times a day, like some antibiotics.

I actually saw something on the interwebs recently that said they tested day vs night, and they agreed with my reasoning, 20 years after i informed my gp i was making the switch. Im pretty much always proven right. Im like the van Gogh of random medical stuff. 20 years ago a friend told me she had lady cancer caused by Shower to Shower. I was like, i had read 20 years EARLIER it was a problem! She was like, why didnt you tell me?! I was like, so THATS why you were always so cool and dry while i was sweating like a b! I thought it was just because i was italian!

Thanks Una and Nammu. I do take night meds too and meds at dinner. I can talk to my GP about changing the times around. It's just weird that it is becoming a symptom now and not when I first started them. But I am trying to figure out if I am eating breakfast later or something than I used to. Maybe I made some change that I am not aware of!

Van Gogh was pretty intuitive!

Yeah I was thinking maybe try them with food. I usually can get by without taking my meds with food but it might help to try it with food. Or perhaps ask the pharmacist. Or doctor.

Yeah I asked my GP yesterday but she said it wasn't any of the meds she prescribes me so ask my pdoc. I talk to him on the 14th so we'll see what he says.

Have you recently started taking Trintellix or has the dose been increased recently? This medication is known to cause nausea and upset stomach especially when one starts taking it or the dose has been increased. It really helps to take it with food. I take mine with lunch since I don't eat breakfast. It rarely bothers my belly now.

Iron is also brutal on the belly. Wouldn't that medication be more effective if you took it with food?

No I have been on the Trintellix for a long time at that dose. So I don't know what is causing the nausea right now. None of my medications have really changed recently.

Maybe it is the Iron though. I don't know. My GP forgot about that one. She is the one who told me to take it. Hmmm.
