My pdoc just prescribed Emsam for my GAD, Complex PTSD, MDD, etc. I am terrified of all medications bc I get the worst reactions from them all. I keep reading how Emsam is activating and I am a constant, racing thoughts, terror-filled, restless, severely anxious wreck already and I am scared that Emsam will be too stimulating and that is the last thing that I need! Does anyone have any experience that they can share?

I have not taken emsam (or any MAOI meds). But I will say that I used to Google side effects of medications and then convince myself I had them. So I think staying away from Dr. Google may help.

I've been on Emsam for 12 years now. At the beginning it was activating and I was given PRNs to get me through. It didn't take that long before it was stabilized and I was fine. Now I wouldn't call it activating at all.
I hope it works for you. It's been a really important med for me. __________________ Bipolar 1, PTSD, GAD, OCD. Clozapine 250 mg, Emsam 12 mg/day patch, topamax 25 mg, ,Gabapentin 1700 mg & 100-2 PRN,. 1.5 mg clonazepam., 50 mg Seroquel |

Now my pdoc placed me on Paxil instead. I am so scared of the side effects especially increased anxiety, health problems, and weight gain. 😭
