Hello, I started Escitalopram recently for treatment of severe depression and anxiety. This is my 5th antidepressant now after stopping fluoxetine which I was on for ten years and had a relapse. My doctor and I found that I’m super sensitive to the drugs so I’m still trying to find what works.

I’m on my 7th tablet so not far in and side effects aren’t great. Racing chest, insomnia, a lot of panic and paranoia, stomach problems and just feeling generally unwell. The upside is that my depression doesn’t seem to be worsening it’s just the anxiety that’s horrible. I know I haven’t took that many so would love to know other people’s experiences on the drug, I’ve been desperate for a while for some light to come through but it’s just wondering how long the awful parts will last and never knowing what’s going to be the right one!

I'm sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well. I am on Escitalopram, and I have been on this medication for almost five years. I used to have panic attacks before starting this medicine, but since starting it I have not had a single panic attack. I am grateful for this. I still have anxiety and possible depression, but it's not nearly as bad as it was when I was on only Zyprexa. The SSRI really helped to quell my panic disorder. I hope you feel better soon.

That sounds hopeful! There’s been so many meds now that I want to stick this one through if can, the side effects still seem less severe than I’ve had from others so I hope that means something good. The panic disorder for me is definitely more a new thing so Hoping it ends up kicking it. Thank you
