My pdoc is going to switch me to one of those two meds and she wants me to decide. I'm leaning towards Vraylar simply because I think it causes less weight gain from Rexulti, but I'm interested in hearing experiences from anyone who has been on both or either.

I've not been on vraylar but rexulti caused me to gain lots of weight which I still haven't managed to lose despite being off of it for nearly 6 months.

Vraylar is a good drug. I was on it for a while and I decided with my pdoc that it didn't help enough with my depression. I was on 4.5 mg of it. Then we decided to stop it and change the regimen. Not that it matters to your thread, but now I take Latuda.
Edit: I forgot to mention I have no experience with Rexulti. I think it's chemically similar to Abilify if I remember right (sorry if I'm wrong). I've been on Abilify though. Anyway, I think if I remember what my psychiatrist told me correctly, Abilify can help with the depressive symptoms of illnesses as well as the psychotic symptoms. And if I am correct that Rexulti is chemically simliar to Abilify, then it *should* have similar effects. Of course this is not specialist advice. __________________ "Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it!” |

I have not been on Rexulti. I have been on Vraylar and it caused me elevated mood, threatening mania, so I had to stop.
I, too, am now on Latuda and am happy with it. I have been able to lost some Zyprexa-caused weight while on Latuda, but I also take Ozempic and exercise quite a bit. |

Vraylar and Rexulti are different drugs. One is for bipolar disorder and the other an anti-psychotic.

They are both anti-psychotics. Most anti-psychotics including Vraylar have indications for bipolar disorder. Rexulti is not approved for bipolar but is used off-label for it.
