Why have they always made a big deal about serotonin as being associated with mood? I've taken anti-depressants for 35 yrs and I haven't noticed much change in my mood after taking all of the SSRIs, MAOi's and mood stabilizers. I mean I responded to paxil 20 yrs ago but it didn't make me especially feel elated. I highly doubt that serotonin is a major player in regulating mood.

I think you may be right, in my opinion. Perhaps the neurotransmitters Glutamate and GABA are more significantly associated with mood regulation?

I think they've said they haven't isolated all the neurotransmitters in our brain, only a handful.
