I told my psych doc today that I have been sleeping too much. So he suggested that I take all of my Lexapro in the morning (or shortly after I get out of bed), rather than at night with my Olanzapine. I have no clue if this is even going to help or not. I'm hoping it does...

I'm so sorry that you are sleeping too much. When I was on Lexapro, my doctor told me that it might cause what you describe and also advised me to take it in the morning. My problem though was insomnia. Olazapine is a medication I have no experience with. I sure hope your doctor's suggestion helps you!

I don't think zyprexa causes sleepiness. But I do know lexapro made me extremely agitated.

My psych doc told me that Olanzapine (Zyprexa) is a sedative, and that Lexapro can counteract Olanzapine's sedative effect. This is why he recommended that I take the Lexapro earlier in the day, preferably in the morning if I can.
Yesterday, I had taken my Lexapro about three hours earlier than usual. And today, I actually got out of bed about three hours earlier than usual. This is definitely a plus. And I then took my Lexapro shortly after getting out of bed. I am going to try to get out of bed a half-hour earlier than I did today, tomorrow. It appears I am on the right track, so far. I appreciate your replies, Yaowen and cool09. |

Olanzapine makes me sleepy. I take 5 mg in the morning and 10 mg at night. Lybalvi which is Olanzapine and something else mixed together like knocked me out. I have no experience taking Lexapro with Olanzapine although I think I was on Lexapro years and years ago. Like the first thing my GP put me on when I started going to her. But she sent me to a pdoc and they switched me off of it. I don't remember why. HUGS if wanted, Kit

I took 20 mg zyprexa in the hospital and I was severely over-medicated and the staff didn't care.

Thanks for the replies, SlumberKitty and HALLIEBETH87.
I have been making some progress with my sleep pattern lately. The med regimen adjustment seems to have helped. That and taking the advice of my pdoc and not trying to go from getting out of bed at 3PM to getting out of bed at 9AM. He suggested I get out of bed a half hour earlier each day. Today I actually got out of bed in the morning. Same with yesterday. So I am happy about the progress. |

That's great that you're making progress. I like the suggestion of trying to get out of bed a half hour earlier. Hope the med timing change works well for you.
